My original article appeared in Freshgigs.ca. In this blog, I discuss the straight-forward question of whether references need to be stated in one’s resume. The answer is “yes and no.” As I state in the article, listing out your references may not be so prudent because you never know when someone might call on your reference. On the other hand, if you have as a reference someone who is well-known in your industry (e.g. a software company CEO or bank VP), why not use his or her name to elevate your profile? It might quickly lead to a job interview, even if your resume does not meet all of the job requirements.
